About
Bowling Green
During the Civil War, Bowling Green was the Confederate
Capital of Kentucky. Now it is known as the Corvette Capital of the
world. The historic downtown dates back to 1798. Fountain Square Park
retains the flavor of that era, with landscaping that has much the same
appearance as when designed by John Cox Underwood in 1871. The city
is large enough, with a population of 50,000, to provide all the attractive
features demanded by today's residents, yet small enough to have a warm
and comfortable atmosphere. Western Kentucky University, with its close-in
campus and more than 18,000 students, provides cultural and sports events
enjoyed by residents and visitors.
